ØYVIND BRANDTSEGG - PERSISTENT DISEQUILIBRIUM





Øyvind Brandtsegg is a composer and performer working in the fields of computer improvisation and sound installations.  He has a deep interest in developing new audio processing methods for artistic purposes, and he has contributed novel extensions to both granular synthesis and convolution techniques.  Brandtsegg has participated on more than twenty-five music albums in a variety of genres.  Since 2010 he has taught, as a professor of music technology, at NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. 



FABIO ORSI - REVERSE DIVERSE






An album of sublime workmanship, developed by one of the finest Italian artists in experimental electronics.  In this work, Orsi combines sounds and musical gestures that are at times almost "symphonic" with programmed rhythmic structures of great impact and effectiveness resulting in a mixing of moments of high drama alternating with interludes reflective quietude and introspection. 

The tracks are those of an electronic music that draws its greatest inspiration from all that the Berlin School has been able to express from its beginnings up to the most current digressions.   Still, this is only a general indication, of the compositions contained herein as Orsi has been able to use the lessons taught by the Berlin School to expand upon, and develop them in a very personal way.

The new exotica sensation has a name :  The RONDELLS, 

This talented French trio-plus-one is exploring the world and its crazy rhythms on this amazing debut album.  All the cuts were recorded and mixed at the Electrophonic Studio, down in Lyon, France, by the wizard of the place, Hervé Bessenay. 

With a handfull of vacuum equipment and vintage effects, Hervé flat-out nailed it!  That is to say, the mid-century lounge-exotica sound in vogue from Miami to Malibu in the '50s.

And it's a full analogical recording!  And, as we all know, full analogical recording rules!!  So get your Bamboo skirt and get ready to limbo barefoot in the sand.  Or whatever you do while getting wild and loose . . .



LUCHO BERMUDEZ Y SU ORQUESTRA - THE COASTAL INVASION






The Coastal Invasion’ highlights the golden age of big band cumbia and the maestro who is often seen as Colombia’s most influential composer, Lucho Bermudez.  This compilation contains a selection of the music of Lucho Bermúdez y su Orquesta recorded during the years that they lived and worked in Medellín, probably the best work the orchestra ever recorded.

Bermudez was a key figure who modernized the tropical music of Colombia's Caribbean coast.  At the beginning of the 20th century, this music was largely looked down on. Bermudez changed all that by injecting a modern, jazzy big band sound to the Afro-Colombian sounds from his native region.  

The infectious Afro-Amerindian dance rhythms of Lucho Bermudez y su Orquesta took over the elite nightclubs of Bogota and Medellin and from there, his music spread all over Latin America.  For many Colombians, the songs of Lucho Bermudez and his wife and starlet singer Matilde Diaz represent the sound of their nation. 



THE GREAT OLD ONES - YOG-SOTHOTH





Yog-Sothoth is an unfathomably powerful deity and one of the most powerful of the Outer Gods, a race of ancient deities who wield great power, size and intelligence, equal and possibly even superior to Azathoth himself, and is a truly cosmic menace that is beyond mortal comprehension.  Yog-Sothoth is the embodiment of all of time and space across an essentially infinite number of space-time continuums.  For all intents and purpose, he is connected to the multiverse.  He is the grandfather of Cthulhu and the grandson of Azathoth.  Yog-Sothoth is an all-knowing, all-seeing, and (supposedly) all-powerful being.  He was born from the Nameless Mist, one of the three offspring of Azathoth alongside the Darkness and Nyarlathotep. 

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate.  Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Y og-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate.  Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth.  He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again.

    When Music Maker Foundation took the latest version of our Music Maker Blues Revue to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in Colorado, the band included a guitar player and singer from Atlanta named Hermon Hitson. He was brand new to the Music Maker family, but he had a musical track record of more than 50 years, playing with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and many others.
